We plan to design and build football infrastructure throughout Puerto Rico with the best technologies and best practices developed to resist Cat 5 hurricanes and earthquakes of magnitude 7, so that our neighbors may find safe shelter within each and every PRSLSafeStadium™. A dry, sheltered stadium that is three times stronger than if built with steel rebar and beams; powered with renewables so it will always deliver electrical power; and meant to transform within hours into a community shelter that serves hot meals and tends to patients in its Players Clinic turned to Emergency Department.
Sports infrastructure architects; civil, structural, and mechanical engineers; members of CONCACAF’s Club Competitions, and footballers apported to what became the model for resilient and sustainable sports infrastructure that permitted the PRSL to become the first football league worldwide to be named Signatory to the United Nations UNFCCC Sports for Climate Action initiative. PRSLSafeStadiums™ are part of the Momentum for Change competition being held by the United Nations. The first prototype model will be built in Dorado, Puerto Rico.
In addition to the excitement that the best football venue in the Caribbean and Central America will bring to Puerto Rico, to the safety that these stadiums/community shelters will offer our communities, the socioeconomic impact will result in a stronger league and improve the quality of life on the island.
"Our commitment to an energy efficient and self sustaining stadium project to help our environment requires that the league adopt a Zero Carbon Footprint by 2030 Mandate.
The whole league from top to bottom is committed to saving our planet. Our design of an eco-system that supports that mandate is clear evidence of our steadfast commitment and will provide the financial stability and backbone necessary to achieve our goals.".
Designed and built with BASALT TECHNOLOGIES™ reinforced basalt rock fiber rebar, beams, and building and construction materials that do not rust – ever; are 3X stronger and 70% lighter than steel rebar; and reduce the carbon footprint by 60%, and generate carbon tax credits. With Basalt Rock Fiber, our stadiums will be able to endure hurricanes and seismic events. Basalt Technologies™ is a member of the United Nations’ Race to Zero® group of 1,000 companies and entities from around the world that work towards a zero-carbon footprint.
Powered with latest generation renewable energies (high efficiency solar panels and power backups, vertical axis wind turbines, biomass to biofuel conversion, hydroelectrical power, and more);
Equipped with Quick Dry latest-generation artificial turf soccer fields that drain water instantly, allowing for a safe, dry, and comfortable community shelter.
Players clinic that converts into PRSL Emergency Department Triage™ to diagnose and treat patients from the community, staffed with Emmaus Medical Missions® and Fundación Joe Serralta® physicians, nurses, and volunteers under the guidance of the League’s Medical Director, Mario J. Polo, M.D.
PRSL Industrial Kitchen™ to feed thousands around the clock daily at all PRSL Stadiums, guided by chef and VP of Hospitality Erasmo “Wito” Rodriguez.
Unique commercial storefronts aimed at community-building. PRSL Tutoring Center™ and Vocational Center™ that teach and train in best practices and technologies (how to sell, install and repair wind turbines, solar panels, basalt rock rebar machinery and materials, operate a sports team, become a chef, etc.), Social Services and Employment Office in combination with each municipality, Sports Shop with PRSL Virtual Training™, Liga Pro Café™ with healthy meals, snacks and beverages (and local favorite coffees and treats, empanadas, croquetas, sandwiches, alcapurrias and mofongo), Liga Pro Gym™ and other elements that ensure weeklong use and steady revenue.
PRSLSafeStadiums protect the League’s teams and fans from contagious diseases (bacterial and viral) through dedicated entry and exit double-wide gates, safe-distancing measures that include color-coded areas and seats, automated disinfecting systems throughout the Stadium, in partnership with VSEGlobal that kill contaminants on contact, and PPE’s, all under the guidance of the League’s Medical Director.
Machines will be discreetly installed throughout the Stadiums, spraying a mist of electrostatically charged fluid using a patented electrostatic charging process, and cover outside seats and bleachers, interior suites, bars, restaurants, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, and locker rooms. In short, the entire Stadium is treated with antimicrobial spray that dissolves COVID-19 upon contact, without side effects or toxicity, as it is all organic in nature and environmentally-friendly.
PRSL Ecofriendly Transportation™ with electric vehicles to transport the League’s clubs and equipment, including all club owners, managers, and coaches. We must “walk the walk” and lead by example.
